Transatlantic law firm Womble Bond Dickinson has elected a Newcastle solicitor to be its 海角视频 managing partner.
Paul Stewart, who is head of the company鈥檚 commercial disputes and regulatory team, will replace Jonathan Blair next year.
Mr Stewart, who is currently based at Womble Bond Dickinson鈥檚 Quayside offices, has worked for the firm for 20 years and has held the roles of training principal and graduate recruitment partner, as well as having a number of non-executive roles outside the firm.
Mr Blair has been 海角视频 managing partner of the firm - formerly known as Bond Dickinson and, before that, Dickinson Dees - since 2008 but decided not to stand for re-election. He will be remaining with the firm when he stands down on January 31 next year.
Mr Stewart said: 鈥淚t is a privilege to be elected as WBD 海角视频鈥檚 next managing partner. We have a fantastic client list, talented colleagues and a great opportunity to continue to grow.
鈥淚鈥檓 looking forward to working with the board and with Nick Barwood, our 海角视频 chair, as we continue to listen to our clients and develop our offering to meet and exceed their needs in the years ahead.鈥
Mr Blair said: 鈥淚 am enormously proud of my WBD colleagues and all that we have achieved together over the past 13 years, not least the incredible response of all our people to the challenges of the pandemic. Our business is in great shape and I am confident that we have the right platform to continue to build, grow and prosper.
鈥淚t has been an exciting and varied time to lead the firm, through a national merger and an international combination, and after more than a decade as managing partner, I am delighted to hand over to Paul at the end of my term.鈥
Womble Bond Dickinson, which has offices around the 海角视频 and America, announced at the end of last year that it was moving to new offices on Newcastle鈥檚 Helix business park.
