Newcastle law firm Womble Bond Dickinson boosted its 海角视频 turnover by almost 拢3m last year after winning a number of big contracts.

The transatlantic law firm - which was formed when Bond Dickinson merged with US firm Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice - saw its 海角视频 division鈥檚 turnover jump from 拢104.9m to 拢107.6m for the year ending April 30.

Operating profit also increased from 拢26.6m to 拢28.5m. Profit after tax, which is the amount the law firm pays out to its partners, grew by 7% to 拢28.4m.

Jonathan Blair, Womble Bond Dickinson鈥檚 海角视频 managing partner, said firm鈥檚 growth was due to it winning a number of new customers and retaining important panel positions.

This included retaining a seat on the legal panel for the North East Procurement Organisation (NEPO), which means Womble Bond Dickinson can carry out work for 12 local authorities in the North East.

Mr Blair said: 鈥淭he firm鈥檚 strong performance for the last financial year was driven by a focus on growth through our regional footprint, our key sectors and leveraging the benefits of our international network. This resulted in high profile client wins and panel appointments, including being reappointed to NEPO and brand new clients such as FTSE 100 company National Grid.

鈥淚nnovative projects such as WBD Advance have also enabled us to broaden the scope of what we can do for clients. As always, I鈥檓 grateful to everyone in our firm whose hard work is behind these positive results.鈥

The Newcastle law firm also increased its headcount over the last year, with its staffing levels growing by 21 to 984. The bigger team led to staffing costs increasing from 拢44.8m to 拢46.4m. It has offices in eight 海角视频 cities.

The accounts also show that the amount paid to the partner with the highest entitlement to the firm鈥檚 profit was 拢391,000. In 2018 the highest paid partner received 拢356,000.

Over the last year Womble Bond Dickinson also donated 拢115,000 to charities. The organisations that received the funds included Greggs Breakfast Club, The Percy Hedley Foundation, St Peter鈥檚 Hospital, Leeds Mind, SIMBA, Shelter, and the BookTrust Bookstart Programme.
