A Derby law firm has agreed to provide legal advice to the charitable arm of Derby County in exchange for yoga sessions.

Smith Partnership, which is headquartered in Friar Gate, has agreed an arrangement with Derby County Community Trust, which will see its lawyers advise the charity’s workers on wills and house sales.

In exchange, the trust’s workers will provide in-house yoga and relaxation, as well as mental health first aid training, for Smith Partnership staff.

Will Turner, business development manager at Derby County Community Trust, said: “Smith Partnership has always been a great supporter of Derby County Football Club, so we are thrilled, as the club’s charitable arm, that they should want to engage with us.

“They care passionately for their staff and are keen to provide support for their physical and mental health.

“We are licensed deliverers of courses for both youth and adult mental health first aid. We are also experts in physical health, so we are starting in that arena with yoga sessions.

“In return, our staff, who are predominantly quite young, will receive legal advice workshops surrounding key life milestones from mortgage applications to pensions.

“The growing need for a focus on mental and physical health on the workplace is evident nationwide, so it’s great to see Smith Partnership paving the way and highlighting its importance in Derby.
