Law firm Howes Percival offers students a glimpse into work life as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations

'The Leicester 25 events have provided us with the opportunity to really get involved with the local community'

Geraint Davies is partner and chairman at Howes Percival

Corporate law firm Howes Percival is marking 25 years of its Leicester office with 25 events to celebrate and give back to the city.

The Leicester office opened in July, 1997, in New Walk with a team of just six lawyers. Today, more than 60 of the firm’s staff are employed at the office on the Meridian Business Park.

Chairman and Leicester partner Geraint Davies said the firm continues to grow, having recorded a 12 per cent increase in turnover since the start of 2020.

As part of its 25 events for 25 years, the Leicester team introduced automotive engineering expert – and friend of the firm – Barney Stevenson to meet and chat with students of Countesthorpe Academy.

The visit was arranged as an outreach project to compliment the British Science Festival hosted at De Montfort University.

Howes Percival partners Matthew Talbot and Carl Mifflin arranged for Barney to visit the school and engage with A-Level and GSCE students about his career journey, his experiences of working in engineering and his views on project design.

Barney was formally part of the advanced product creation team at Jaguar Land Rover and has also worked with Leicester-based Noble Cars.

He was able to offer the students an insight into a potential career in the automotive industry, discuss the skills they need to consider and give some useful hints and tips for interviewing.
