Law firm Clarke Willmott has reported a 12% rise in revenue after what it called a “transformational” couple of years for the business.

In a trading update for the 2021/22 financial year, the company said it had generated £59.6m thanks to a set of “strong results” across its teams and sectors, which it said had received “more instructions than ever” from its clients.

During the period the national firm, which is headquartered in Birmingham and also has offices in Bristol, Cardiff, London, Manchester, Southampton and Taunton has continued to move towards a hybrid working model for its staff.

Last summer it moved to a “smaller but more environmentally sustainable” head office in Birmingham. Earlier this year it announced it would relocate its 300-strong workforce in Bristol to a new harbourside office development to further support hybrid working and broader environmental and sustainability goals.

Clarke Willmott said a survey of its staff had found 96% of its workers in the same or similar roles to the role they had pre-pandemic, now perceived they were now working “more effectively”.

The firm added that 95% of those surveyed said they were “enjoying” the days they work at home, while 60% said they had “a great work life balance”.

Chief executive Stephen Rosser said while there were “significant challenging headwinds” ahead for all businesses, the firm would look to build “lessons learned and investments made during the pandemic”.

Mr Rosser said: “After a decade of improvements, we have moved the firm onto an excellent footing for future growth. Our results are a consequence of the hard work undertaken by everyone at the firm and the great support from our diverse client base from whom we have received more instructions than ever, on increasingly complex and interesting work.
