Nielsen McAllister:

Derby PR and communications agency Nielsen McAllister has appointed its first apprentice, providing a new route into the industry for young people interested in a career in PR.

Molly Norman has joined the business as an apprentice account executive. The 19-year-old from Heanor read law at university, but her long held interest in digital marketing and creative writing led her to realise that her future lay in another direction.

With the help of Derby training provider althaus, which specialises in digital qualifications, Molly has begun her 18-month apprenticeship at Nielsen McAllister, alongside studying for a Digital Marketing Level 3 qualification.

Molly鈥檚 role will be very hands-on, supporting team members across a range of client projects to gain practical experience that supports and complements her course work.

Molly said: 鈥淚鈥檓 delighted to have joined Nielsen McAllister and to be learning about the world of PR and communications.

鈥淚鈥檝e been made truly welcome since day one and have already got involved in daily work activities, preparing copy and materials for social media and even writing my first blog for the business!

鈥淚鈥檓 really looking forward to building my career here and using the insight from my apprenticeship training to help further develop and enhance digital marketing techniques that will benefit our clients.鈥

Based in Green Lane in the St Peters Quarter, Nielsen McAllister recently expanded both its capacity and sector reach with the announcement of three new appointments earlier this year.

The agency is also recruiting for an account manager to support its future growth.

Yew Lodge Hotel:

An East Midlands restaurant has promoted a member of staff, who started as a Christmas temp, onto its management team.

Sophie White has been appointed as assistant restaurant and bar manager at Marco Pierre White鈥檚 New York Italian at the Yew Lodge Hotel in Kegworth.

Having started work there 2015, she has worked her way up the career ladder, taking on various roles such as bar supervisor prior to her latest position.

Sophie, who lives in Nottingham, said: 鈥淚 cannot wait for the new challenge especially as we鈥檙e now able to reopen following the latest lockdown.

鈥淕uests have been waiting to go out for so long and I want our team to make their first night out to be a memorable one.

鈥淢arco鈥檚 New York Italian here in Kegworth is a stunning space to dine and is a real hidden gem in this delightful village. We just want it to be buzzing as it was pre covid.

鈥淎nd I can honestly say that despite sharing the same surname as Marco, we鈥檙e not related.鈥

Hallam:

Digital marketing agency Hallam has expanded its content marketing team, with two new hires.

Anna Murphy and Cormac Clarke join the Nottingham business as content marketing consultant and digital PR executive respectively.

Anna will be looking after PR, social media and all things content marketing, advising clients and devising content strategy.

Prior to joining Hallam, she worked as a feature writer for national women鈥檚 magazines before joining retail technology specialist Retail Assist where she handled their PR and communications.

Cormac Clarke recently graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a degree in broadcast journalism and did a placement at Notts County Women as a social media and content officer.

Elliot Mather LLP:

Julie Skill, the head of the family department at Elliot Mather, has been appointed president of Derby Law Society for the coming year.

Ms Skill has practised family law since 1989 and has been with the firm since she was a paralegal.

She has expertise in a range of family matters, advising on pre-nuptial agreements, and helping deal with relationship breakdowns, including issues relating to children, finances and domestic abuse.

The Derby Law Society was established in early 1886, originally with 35 members who wanted to start a law library.

Since then it has grown to represent lawyers across the whole of Derbyshire and East Staffordshire.

Nelsons:

East Midlands-based law firm Nelsons has boosted its expert commercial property team in Leicester, after welcoming a new associate.

Ben Cox qualified as a solicitor in September 2019 and joins Nelsons from Wilkin Chapman Solicitors in Lincoln.

He specialises in commercial property, with an interest in construction law, and his role at Nelsons will focus on the retail, residential development, industrial, hospitality and charity sectors.

The Good Food Group:

Consultancy business The Good Food Group has brought in Iain Laing as an account manager, to support its ambitious growth plans following a successful first quarter.

Iain, who will be responsible for vitamins, supplements and wellness at the Mansfield-based group, brings more than 10 years鈥 worth of experience in the food and drink industry - having held previous positions at Colgate, Palmolive and Nestle.

He has a wide range of skills and extensive expertise, particularly within the herbal and food supplements sector, and previously won an OTC marketing award for his work with Potters Herbals.

Smith Cooper:

Smith Cooper Independent Financial Solutions has further strengthened its team, welcoming graduates Aman Matharu and George Brandist to the firm as financial planning analysts.

Aman and George both join the Hinckley-based firm from Coventry University, where they completed degrees in accounting and finance, and finance respectively.

Both will now be fast-tracked to become chartered financial planners.

Company director Paul Hamilton has close ties to Coventry University Business School dating back to 2008, and has contributed time and financial planning expertise to the department of Economics, Finance and Accounting.

BDO:

Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO has further strengthened its technology risk assurance team with the appointment of Dee Vaghela.

Based in the Midlands, his role within the national technology risk assurance practice, will see him support new and existing external audit clients with their technology demands.

Castle Donington technology innovator Synergy Logistics has announced a trio of key promotions as business continues to grow its warehouse management system SnapFulfil.

Philip Wright, Emma Faulkner and Martin Coogan of Synergy Logistics

Philip Wright is elevated to head of global support & continuous improvement, a pivotal new area for the company, while Martin Coogan takes up the mantle of head of the 海角视频 customer success team.

Elsewhere in the business, Emma Faulkner has been promoted to head of software development from her previous role as technical development manager.
