It may be a period of uncertainty for business but it doesn't mean that jobs are not being created, people being promoted, or moving to new companies.

Deloitte Wales announces partner and director promotions
Deloitte Wales has promoted from within with the appointment of a new partner and directors for 2021.
Based in Cardiff, Shaun Curtis has been promoted to tax partner, with Rob Wallace and Dean Thomas promoted to director in the financial advisory team.
Mr Curtis hails from Pembrokeshire, attending Cardiff University before joining the firm as a graduate in 2007. He currently leads the business tax team in Wales, a team of 55, and is national lead of the Entrepreneur and Advisory Group for private client services.
Across the 海角视频, Deloitte promoted 79 to partner, 19 of which are from the firm’s regional practices. Within the South West & Wales practice as a whole, which incorporates both Bristol and Cardiff, there were a total of two new partners and nine director promotions.

UHY Hacker Young appoint associate director
Wales’ largest independently owned accountancy firm, UHY Hacker Young, has announced its latest appointment.
Barrie Kenyon joins the practice as an associate director during a period of significant growth, which has already seen UHY Hacker Young report double-digit turnover for the last year.
Based at the company’s Newport headquarters, Mr Kenyon will work alongside managing partner, Paul Byett, in a bid to further enhance the firm’s business services department. As an associate director he will be tasked with overseeing accounting services to clients across a diverse range of sectors.
Mr Kenyon brings over 14 years of additional experience to UHY Hacker Young’s senior leadership team. His previous role as director saw him manage a wide-ranging portfolio, with a specialist focus in property.

During the pandemic, UHY Hacker Young secured over £10 million crucial funding for Welsh businesses and helped clients access over £6m in furlough payments, over £3m in CBILs Loans, circa £1m in Bounce Back loans and nearly £1m in grant support.
The company experienced a double-digit percentage growth in annual turnover, along with securing 200 new clients. UHY Hacker Young currently employs more than 60 staff based at its Newport headquarters and founding Abergavenny practice, in addition to serving clients across the border from its Bristol office.
Capital Law welcomes new partner to its banking and finance team
Capital Law has appointed partner James Butters to its Banking & Finance team.
Mr Butters joins after over 20 years at Clifford Chance, where he was a partner in their London and Paris offices.
Capital Law says Mr Butters has acted for major corporates, private equity investors, and international financial institutions on all types of transactions, and brings to the firm a depth of expertise across finance, structured and corporate debt - in particular M&A financing and private equity sponsor-led leveraged buy-outs; all with significant emphasis on cross-border transactions.
His new role will support the growth of the business as Capital continues to enhance its reputation nationally and internationally. James’ global network will be key to unlocking further opportunities for the firm and its clients – starting with private equity and debt finance.
Mr Butters will be based in London – where Capital recently purchased a new office – but he will regularly spend time in Cardiff, where the firm is headquartered.

Verde Corporate Finance makes new senior appointment
Mergers, acquisitions & investment specialists Verde Corporate Finance (part of the GS Verde Group), has announced the appointment of Louise Santaana to its growing team, to support the growth of the business following a record year of growth.
Verde welcomes Ms Santaana as director of the Group’s fintech investment platform, the Elevate investment network. The company says the appointment supports growing client demand for the services provided by Verde as part of the integrated corporate finance led deal-making team at GS Verde Group.
The Elevate investment network is a fintech platform launched by the GS Verde Group, to digitise the scale-up investment process. It has been used by businesses across the 海角视频 who are seeking to raise investment.
Ms Santaana had spent over 20 years working for Lloyds Banking Group in London, most recently as the head of Private Banking and Lending, a role that saw her lead a 海角视频-wide team of 100 private client managers.

Germany's youngest ever master baker joins Jones Village Bakery
A young baker who made history in his native Germany is rising to a new challenge in North Wales.
Lucas Fussnegger became the youngest ever master baker in his homeland and he’s now putting his skills to use at the fast-growing Jones Village Bakery in Wrexham.
The 29-year-old has been appointed as the group’s Master Baker, helping the company’s acclaimed New Product Development department and keeping an eye on quality control in all its bakeries, including the new 140,000 sq foot super bakery that will be operational in July.
His other claim to fame is that he was also a professional cyclist for several years and raced against the likes of Tour de France winners Geraint Thomas and Sir Bradley Wiggins.
And indirectly it was the cycling that brought Lucas to Wales.
He was on a training camp in Majorca with the Proter Focus team when he met and fell in love with a Welsh girl, Katie Woods, from Dolgellau, and the couple have a three-year-old daughter Elena.
For the past five years he has been working in the 海角视频 at the technical manager for a German ingredients supplier which is how he came to the attention of Robin Jones, the Managing Director of Jones Village Bakery.
He said: “I am delighted to be joining the Jones Village Bakery at such an exciting time with the new bakery about to open.
“The company has a brilliant reputation because of the quality of its products - that’s what sets them apart from the rest of the industry.
“They are always raising the bar in terms of quality and there is a constant quest to improve what they do so they always have the best products on the market.
