Global insurance intermediary group Howden has expanded further in Wales via acquisition.

It has acquired Gott & Wynne a general insurance broker based in Llandudno, which specialises in both personal and commercial lines.

The value of the deal has not been disclosed.

Led by Barry Wynne, Michael Clough and Steven Goldsmith, Gott & Wynne has expertise in insurance for Morgan sports cars and classic cars, alongside specialisms in commercial and business insurance, and property insurance. The three directors are remaining with the business under Howden ownership.

Kelly Ogley, chief executive of Howden consumer and local commercial, said: “Having built a full-service insurance broker in south Wales, the addition of Gott & Wynne is a significant step forward in growing our business in the north of the country.

" Gott & Wynne and Howden are a strong cultural fit, with shared values for our clients, our people, and the local communities we serve.”

The remaining directors of Gott & Wynne said: “By joining Howden, with its extensive presence across South Wales, alongside its global network, Gott & Wynne will be positioned to provide greater value to our clients through enhanced solutions and capabilities.”

Howden also has an office in Swansea and Cardiff, where it recently located to larger premises at the Global Reach office scheme in Cardiff Bay. Howden’s South Wales operations has grown by 24 staff since it first launched in south Wales in 2023.
