A historic Black Country manufacturer which held a Royal Warrant has fallen into administration.
Walsall-based Jabez Cliff Ltd, which makes saddles under the brand name Barnsby, has been trading for 221 years but has been placed under the control of administrators from Smith & Williamson after an unsuccessful attempt to restructure the business.
All the saddles manufactured by the company, which held a Royal Warrant as a supplier to the Queen, were hand-made and are used by The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery, The Household Cavalry and many elite equestrian riders.

The business has ceased trading and administrators are now working to sell its assets including the Barnsby brand
Andy McGill, a partner in the Smith & Williamson's Birmingham office and administrator, said: "The directors have worked very hard during the last six months to try and turn the business around.
"It had been hoped it might be possible to boost international sales but unfortunately market conditions have proved too tough and opportunities have not matched their expectations.
"Following the closure of the business, the directors had no option but to make their 26 staff redundant and to place the business into administration.
"It is always extremely sad to see a heritage brand such as Barnsby endure such difficulties.
