Hinckley & Rugby Building Society moves into former Leicestershire magistrates court

New head office is "wonderful place to work in" and "statement of commitment to Hinckley and homelands"

The society has moved into the old Hinckley Magistrates Court building

Hinckley & Rugby Building Society has moved into a new headquarters – just over the road from its old base.

The mutual has transformed the former Hinckley Magistrates Court building in the town’s Upper Bond Street into the new home for its 100-plus head office staff.

Work started remodelling the building several months ago, including removing the cells and adding almost 20,000 sq ft of floorspace.

The new HQ is a third bigger that the old one, with space to continue growing the workforce and to allow staff to work at their own desks or more flexibly with colleagues.

Head office staff numbers have doubled since 2010.

Two training rooms have been created and informal breakout areas added.

The society has been based in the south Leicestershire town for more than 150 years and the vacated office building had been its base since 1970.

The former head office, at 81 Upper Bond Street, is up for sale with Johnson Fellows, and is currently under offer. It covers just over 15,000 sq ft.
