HCB Solicitors breaks new ground with accountancy firm tie-up

Solihull law firm headed by Mike Gahan continues deals trend with latest acquisition

Mike Gahan, chief executive of HCB Hatch Chartered Accountants

Law firm HCB Solicitors has taken a controlling stake in a Warwickshire chartered accountancy firm.

HCB, which is headquartered in Solihull and has 14 other bases across the Midlands, North West and London, has acquired 51 per cent of Hatch Accountancy in a bid to offer a one-stop-shop for legal and financial services.

Hatch specialises in corporate finance including tax planning, business strategy and development, planning and budgeting.

The new practice will be known as HCB Hatch Chartered Accountants and Hatch's Stratford base will be merged with HCB's office in the town.

HCB Solicitors' chief executive Mike Gahan will spearhead the new outfit.

He told the Post: "It was an obvious tie-up with the two client bases of the companies. We currently have 200 staff and turnover of £10 million.

"We have no interest in growing revenues and staffing numbers, we're only looking to grow profit through making efficiencies wherever possible by providing a unique service to the marketplace and retaining clients.

"We are also looking to recruit between 15 and 20 staff on the accountancy side and continuing the recent trend of HCB."
