Leicestershire Law Society hosted a summer garden party to mark the inauguration of this year’s president Glynis Wright.

Ms Wright is the ninth female president and the 159th president of the county society.

She is the founder and head of practice at Glynis Wright and Co, a specialist family law and mediation practice, based in the city.

The reception took at Trinity House, a medieval chapel at the heart of De Montfort University, in Leicester.

A spokesman for the society said they were proud to have Professor Surinder Sharma DL representing the Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire, High Sheriff of Rutland Mrs Margaret Miles and Lord Willy Bach among the guests.

Members of the Judiciary who attended included Her Honour Judge George – Designated Family Judge for Leicester and Leicestershire – District Judge Stamenkovich, District Judge Afzal OBE and District Judge Watson in attendance.

Ms Wright outlined her aims and objectives for the year – which include continuing to build the foundations of the society – while hosting some glittering events, including one to celebrate 100 years of women in law, to be co-hosted with the Midlands Asian Lawyers Association, on November 1.

A pro bono debate also takes place in November, for firms offering pro bono services, and there will also be a celebration of the achievements that have come out of Leicester and Leicestershire in science, space, technology, arts and the law.
