Euro Car Parts swoops for Unipart Automotive branches

Supply group acquires 27 sites and says it is in the market for more

A further 27 branches of failed supplier Unipart Automotive have been rescued.

Euro Car Parts has bought the sites from KPMG, administrators of the -based business.

The news follows a rescue deal last month which saw The Parts Alliance and its associate member Andrew Page and initially save about 360 jobs

Unipart Automotive was headquartered on Birmingham Business Park and operated a network of 180 branches and distribution hubs supplying car parts, workshop consumables and garage equipment.

Mark Orton, Will Wright and Jonny Marston from KPMG were appointed joint administrators to Unipart Automotive Ltd and more than 1,200 jobs were lost.

The deal with The Parts Alliance and Andrew Page saved branches in Walsall, Stafford and Shrewsbury while this latest deal with London-based Euro Car Parts expands its branch network to 194 although none of those sites rescued are in the West Midlands.

Chief executive Martin Gray said: "We are delighted to have acquired these 27 branches and may yet acquire more.

"Over the last few days, we have been working hard to identify which locations fit into our growth strategy.
