A Nottingham construction consultancy has been contracted to work on plans for a £350-400 million Center Parcs site in southern England.

Edmond Shipway will provide project management, cost consultancy and mechanical and electrical engineering consultancy services for the proposed sixth º£½ÇÊÓƵ holiday village, just south of Gatwick Airport, in West Sussex.

Notts-based Center Parcs has secured an option to buy the 553 acre privately-owned woodland at Oldhouse Warren, in Crawley.

The holiday company said it hopes to put 900 lodges on the site, leading to 1,500 new jobs, with around 1,000 jobs during construction.

It estimates that each of its holiday parks pumps about £40 million into the local economy each year.

The site at Oldhouse Warren would include a range of indoor and outdoor leisure facilities, one of its Subtropical Swimming Paradises, a variety of restaurants and shops, and an Aqua Sana Spa.

A team from Edmond Shipway will manage site appraisals and pre-planning works to ensure the woodland meets the needs of a Center Parcs holiday village.

It will also help with community engagement prior to submitting a formal planning application to the local council.
