A Derby building consultancy has been appointed to help deliver a new luxury student accommodation scheme in the city.

Armsons, based in Brick Row, Darley Abbey, has been appointed as cost consultants on the Urban Lofts project, which involves turning the former Majority House, in Lodge Lane, into three apartments, each with six en-suite bedrooms.

Work on the scheme has already started after planning permission was granted in August last year.

The conversion of the empty office block, which is in the heart of Derby’s student district, is expected to be completed by mid-August.

Urban Lofts is inspired by New York Loft developments and are designed for Derby University students who want to have a secure home, in the very heart of where students want to live.

The scheme has been designed by Tº£½ÇÊÓƵ Surveyors Ltd and the contractors for the scheme are A&S Enterprises, based in Burton.

The company behind the project is Urban Sister, which was founded by Gillian and Ruth Hobbs last year.

For the past 18 years, the pair has been working on residential and buy-to-let refurbishments in London - but have now expanded to the Midlands.
