Finance giant Deloitte is opening a technology centre in Manchester that will create 100 jobs.

The centre, to be based in Deloitte’s Manchester office at 100 Embankment, will start by bringing together 50 of Deloitte’s existing tech specialists doing work including designing apps, cloud engineering, and embedding AI into software.

The global professional services firm hopes to create 100 jobs at the centre over the next three years and is promising “multi-year technical training programmes” to help people who want to move into the tech sector.

The group says its plans are “contributing to the North West ’s growing reputation as a leading hub for technology innovation and talent”.

Jo Ahmed, practice senior partner for Deloitte in the North West, said: “Bringing a dedicated technology centre to the North West is a major step forward for our regional practice, ensuring we can continue supporting the evolving the needs of our clients.

“With our region fast becoming a powerhouse for digital and technological talent, our investment will further support Greater Manchester’s ambition to be a leading digital and AI demonstrator region. I'm particularly excited about the opportunities these centres create for people wanting to start a new career in technology.

“I look forward to welcoming our 50 existing technologists to the new centre, and tripling the headcount with many more talented individuals as we grow this business over the next three years and create jobs for the future.”

Similar tech centres will also open in Belfast, Cardiff, and Newcastle next year.
