Commonwealth Games expands legacy team and more appointments news

Five new faces join committee striving to maximise the benefits of 2022 Games, Tandem Group chairman and CEO step down and partner promotion at Shakespeare Martineau

The organisers of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham have appointed five new members to its legacy committee which was set up to ensure the city, region and country maximises the benefits of hosting the sporting spectacle.

The committee is tasked with establishing a legacy strategy and overseeing the delivery of a programme of benefits covering areas such as tourism, trade and investment, jobs and skills, education, sustainability and culture.

The quintet of new appointments are Fleur Sexton, managing director and co-founder of training company PET-Xi, Nicola Ibbetson, chief commercial officer at Aston Villa FC and Anisa Morridadi, founder and chief executive of Beatfreeks Collectives in Birmingham which offers consultancy and other services related to the arts.

Joining them are Casey Bailey, assistant head teacher of Windsor Academy Trust and city poet, and accessibility specialist Sarah Rennie.

Committee chairman John Crabtree said: "We're pleased to have added five people who bring very different knowledge and experience but all share a passion for ensuring Birmingham and the West Midlands maximise the opportunities that hosting a globally significant event like the Commonwealth Games brings.

"I've been very impressed with the enthusiasm they have all already demonstrated and we feel lucky we have been able to attract such talented individuals."

The chairman and chief executive of Birmingham bike manufacturer Tandem Group are stepping down from their roles.
