Chamber team aims to support businesses through Brexit and Covid 'double whammy'

Large and medium sized companies urged to discuss key issues so aid can be tailored

Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce wants to shape support for larger businesses dealing with Covid-19 and Brexit.

Big businesses on the Humber are being urged to work with key organisations as they look to ensure the right support is provided to meet their needs.

Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce and the Humber LEP Growth Hub have made the call with the double whammy of Covid-19 and Brexit immediate challenges to overcome.

Large and medium sized businesses are urged to discuss trading pressures, needs and the type of future aid to address short and medium term impacts from the pandemic and the EU withdrawal.

Pauline Wade, director of international trade at Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce, said:

“We know that businesses are increasingly concerned by how best to prepare for the EU Exit and what the impact of Covid has meant for them. Do they have the resources that they would otherwise have had to prepare? Do they need advice on trading post the EU Exit transition period?

"Do they need to identify new markets and new opportunities? Do they need advice on continued trading with EU, with customs declarations etc? Do they need financial advice on the economic impact and financial implications on a business as a result of Covid-19?”

“I hope businesses will take the time to talk to us.

“There are many uncertainties but we will continue to work with businesses to look for solutions and identify support that meet their needs.”
