My Business Counsel joins Excello Law

Fee-share legal consultancy is expanding again with its latest buyout deal

A Birmingham law firm has been bought out by growing legal group Excello Law.

My Business Counsel has been acquired by the national legal practice which offers a consultancy service, allowing its lawyers to fee share and benefit from greater flexibility in their working day.

The acquisition is the ninth by Excello Law, increasing the team to 200 solicitors, and it is believed to be the largest of its kind within the dispersed consultancy model.

My Business Counsel, which is based in Colmore Circus and also has an office in London, was one of the early adopters of this type of fee model.

It was founded in 2011 by husband and wife team Sandip and Rasneet Sohal and has grown to a turnover of £2.5 million and 40 consultant lawyers, with a core focus on corporate and commercial work.

Mrs Sohal said: "We are delighted to join Excello, whose reputation and business model aligns with that of ours. We look forward to moving forward as one entity.

"Through Excello's scale, our lawyers will benefit from a wider array of resources allowing them to focus on the service to their clients which will in turn contribute to the growth of the Excello Group."
