David Gibb, Wesleyan Bank's first business development manager in Scotland

Wesleyan Bank has appointed its first business development manager in Scotland as it moves to grow its commercial finance service north of the border.

David Gibb joins the bank, bringing with him more than 30 years' experience in the financial services sector.

His role will include building strong relationships with customers, brokers and other affinity groups.

Wesleyan Bank is part of Wesleyan, the Birmingham-based mutual providing tailored financial advice and services to doctors, dentists, lawyers and teachers.

Steve Deutsch, managing director of Wesleyan Bank, said: "David joins Wesleyan Bank at an exciting time as we extend our range of commercial products across our customer markets.

"At a time when high street banks are cutting back on lending, we are expanding in this space with a growing book of commercial loans and ambitious plans for the future.

"We have, for example, recently launched commercial loans into the GP and dental markets, building on our vast experience in the legal market where we have worked for many years.

"Our loans service is backed by an in-depth knowledge of our professional customers, the issues that affect their finances and the challenges they face running a business.
