More than 700 new jobs are on their way to Birmingham in the latest major boost to the city's finance sector.

Outsourcing firm Sigma has unveiled expansion plans for Birmingham in a move which will double its workforce and bring more than 700 new jobs to the city over the next 18 months.

The group, which is headquartered in Redditch, offers credit management services and has opened its second office and contact centre in the region.

It has taken a 3,300 sq ft base in the Mclaren building in Priory Queensway, ahead of relocating 40 staff from Redditch and with 200 more administration and contact centre workers to be recruited and trained by December.

A recruitment drive for a further 500 posts will be completed by December 2016 when Sigma plans to take a further floor at Mclaren.

The news comes only months after banking giant revealed plans bringing 1,000 jobs in the process, while national wealth manager Bellpenny moved in 50 more with a new office.

Tim Freeman, chief executive of Sigma, said: "Birmingham is booming and the city is on the cusp of becoming an even more important economy and centre for business in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ.

"That makes it a hugely exciting time for us to be expanding and investing into the centre of Birmingham.
