Rachel Riley to host BYPY 2015

Countdown star and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant lined up as guest host for 15th anniversary of award ceremony

Countdown mathematician and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Rachel Riley will host the 2015 next month.

The 15th BYPY ceremony, which is being held at the ICC on May 14, will again recognise the city's

Ms Riley has a master's degree in mathematics and a wide ranging television portfolio which includes competing on Celebrity Mastermind, leading a maths debate with Sainsbury's chief executive Justin King and her appearance on the popular BBC dance competition.

Sam Pennell, BYPY committee chairman and managing director of espi PR & Events, said: "Rachel's mix of intellect and presenting experience make her the perfect host for this year's awards."

Ms Riley added: "I'm really excited to be hosting the awards' momentous 15th anniversary event and am sure it's going to be a fabulous evening.

"I love the idea of celebrating and recognising all of Birmingham's rising stars although, given my love of maths, I will, of course, be secretly rooting for the finance finalists."

The annual BYPY event will celebrate members of Birmingham's professional services sector in six categories - finance, HR, recruitment and training, property and construction, marketing and communications, technology and legal.

A seventh award called aspiring talent recognises young people who are aged 16 to 24 and still in education.
