The Ƶ’s sixth biggest building society, Principality, has seen its new chief executive taking up his role.

Formally the mutual’s chief financial officer, Iain Mansfield has succeeded Julie-Ann Haines, who will take up a new and yet to be revealed new role, next summer.

Mr Mansfield had been appointed chief financial officer in 2022 with previous roles also including managing director of subsidiary business Nemo and chief operating officer. The mutual’s chair, Simon Moore said: “The board is delighted to appoint Iain as Principality’s new chief executive. His drive and depth of experience is exactly what the Society needs to lead Principality into its next chapter with purpose, pace and clarity. I have no doubt that under his leadership, we will build on our strengths and create long-term value for our Members and the communities we so proudly serve.”

Mr Mansfield said: “It is an honour and privilege to take the helm of Wales’ largest building society. I am committed to the stewardship of a Society that meets the ever-evolving needs of our members of today, and those of tomorrow.”

The Principality has assets of £14.1bn with 54 branches and 16 agencies in Wales the borders.
