High street bank NatWest is launching a new career pilot training programme in the Midlands which will serve as a platform for future talent.

The scheme is similar to a graduate programme but is for staff to bridge diversity and inclusion at the bank.

NatWest is piloting the new intensive, disruptive placement programme to enhance the development and capability of a small group of staff in the region.

Pam Sheemar, who currently heads up its entrepreneur accelerator programme in Brindleyplace, Birmingham, will join the scheme in March and will work in various parts of its corporate and commercial business over the next year.

She has worked for NatWest for more than ten years including in retail banking and entrepreneurship and is also a director for Birmingham Tech and an executive committee member of the Asian Business Chamber of Commerce in Birmingham.

Ms Sheemar said: "I am incredibly excited about the new role within the team and I look forward to supporting the management team in developing this programme which will hopefully enable others to succeed in the future.

"The programme presents a unique opportunity to develop specialist skills and knowledge and I am proud to be a part of an organisation that is delivering on its commitment to improving how it supports people from diverse backgrounds."
