Metrobank has launched a call centre above its branch in Bristol’s Broadmead shopping quarter which it expects to create more than 100 jobs.

The first group of recruits at the bank’s first contact centre to open in the South West, called Amaze Direct, began taking calls this week.

The business had previously announced in November last year that it was planning to open the centre in March, and that it would initially create 50 jobs. However, it was forced to delay starting operations there due to the pandemic.

The company will take on the next cohort of staff in July and added that it would look to recruit further for roles in “due course”, providing the country continues to open up with the unlocking of coronavirus restrictions.

Aisling Kane, chief operating officer at Metro Bank, said: “We’re thrilled to be opening our first contact centre in the South West

"Our new colleagues are passionate and knowledgeable and I know they will make a real difference in our customers’ experience of the bank as we pride ourselves on being approachable, straightforward and totally accessible.”

The so-called challenger bank, which launched in 2010, serves more than two million customer accounts and has a network of over 77 stores across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ.
