Metrobank has launched a call centre above its branch in Bristol鈥檚 Broadmead shopping quarter which it expects to create more than 100 jobs.

The first group of recruits at the bank鈥檚 first contact centre to open in the South West, called Amaze Direct, began taking calls this week.

The business had previously announced in November last year that it was planning to open the centre in March, and that it would initially create 50 jobs. However, it was forced to delay starting operations there due to the pandemic.

The company will take on the next cohort of staff in July and added that it would look to recruit further for roles in 鈥渄ue course鈥, providing the country continues to open up with the unlocking of coronavirus restrictions.

Aisling Kane, chief operating officer at Metro Bank, said: 鈥淲e鈥檙e thrilled to be opening our first contact centre in the South West

"Our new colleagues are passionate and knowledgeable and I know they will make a real difference in our customers鈥 experience of the bank as we pride ourselves on being approachable, straightforward and totally accessible.鈥
