Investec Wealth & Investment has co-funded the delivery of a new Lord’s Taverners minibus for the Victoria Specialist Arts College, a school for 180 pupils with disabilities in Birmingham.

Following England’s international summer of cricket against India, T20 hero Chris Woakes unveiled the accessible minibus at Edgbaston Cricket Ground.

Victoria Specialist Arts College’s minibus is the second of four minibuses supported by Investec following fundraising from the 2013 Investec Ashes Cycle Challenge, which raised over £250,000 for the Lord’s Taverners and a number of charities last summer.

The next two minibuses are expected to be delivered to special educational needs schools in London and Sheffield in the next six months.

The Lord’s Taverners, a youth cricket and disability sports charity, has put more than 1,050 minibuses on the road since 1976 thanks to support and fundraising from individuals and companies.

The minibuses enable young people to enjoy new places and experiences, from sporting activities to trips to the seaside.

The 2013 Investec Ashes Cycle Challenge saw more than 70 cyclists, including staff from Investec and their guests, take part in a ride which covered all five Ashes Test grounds.

After almost five days and 340 miles, the Investec team reached Lord’s Cricket Ground on July 17.
