EY has made two new appointments across its Midlands transaction advisory services business to boost the service it offers to middle-market firms.

Mark Day has been internally promoted to director, while Dougal Baxter joins from BDO as a director.

Mr Day joined the firm in 2014 in EY’s lead advisory team and has more than 12 years’ corporate finance experience, including seven years working for an international corporate finance boutique.

He has extensive transaction experience and experience of advising middle-market businesses across a range of different sectors.

Mr Baxter joins the firm as transaction support director in EY’s corporate finance team in Birmingham, after 20 years working in the middle-market at BDO.

He specialises in pre-acquisition and vendor due diligence for private equity-related transactions and local corporates.

EY’s transaction advisory services team in the Midlands now comprises more than 30 professional staff, including five partners and seven directors operating across the region.

John Houlden, transaction support partner at EY in the Midlands, said: “Developing our people is a vital part of our growth strategy, and this investment in senior talent reflects not only our growing ambition in the Midlands, but also our confidence in the long-term outlook for our regional economy.
