Birmingham Law Society president Stephanie Perraton addresses guests at its 2022 Legal Awards

Anthony Collins Solicitors was a double winner at this year's Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards.

The Birmingham-based practice won both the paralegal and trainee categories while Trowers & Hamlins took home a new award celebrating diversity and inclusion.

The annual awards were held at the ICC in Birmingham and recognised achievement across 12 different categories.

Jayne Willetts, owner of Clent-based niche professional regulation practice Jayne Willetts & Co Solicitors, won the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Having practised law for almost 40 years, the award recognises her as a leading figure in the profession, noting the many contributions she had made to the legal community throughout her career, including being the first female president of the society in 1999.

A second new category for 2022 to celebrate in-house lawyers went to Cleo Stewart of housing association Midland Heart.

Birmingham Law Society president Stephanie Perraton said: "This year's awards were pertinent for Birmingham's legal community as it was the first time since 2019 that we have been able to come together to celebrate our members' achievements in person.
