A pair of Bristol accountancy firms have merged in a move described as a "significant milestone" by the businesses. Bradley Stoke-based Dunkley's announced on Monday (April 8) that Filton-based Gillespie's would be joining the firm.

The companies said they had worked "closely" for the past 20 years and merging offered a "prime opportunity" to combine expertise and resources.

The main office for Dunkley's will remain at Woodlands Lane in Bradley Stoke following the merger.

“We are thrilled to welcome the team of experts from Gillespie’s Chartered Accountants into our business,” said Lisa White, director at Dunkley’s. "Together, we are committed to delivering exceptional service to our valued clients and we believe that this collaboration will enable us to provide even greater support and expertise to businesses in Bristol and across the South West.”

Gillespie's was founded in 2009 by Mark Gillespie, who is still a director at the firm. He said: “To meet growing demand and client needs, we knew we needed to expand our team.

"Having worked with Dunkley’s audit team, we know they share our values and have the in-house expertise to give more specialist advice. Combined, the businesses will have the scalability to meet the demand that we have been attracting.

“My team and I look forward to joining Dunkley’s Business Services Team, led by Fiona Bell-Scott, reflecting her excellent work as our practice manager. I'm grateful to every colleague at Gillespie’s for their contribution to our journey and I’m proud to see them flourish.”
