The inaugural West Country Boat Show has become the latest event to be been shelved because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The event was due to take place at the large Queen Anne's Battery (QAB) marina, in Plymouth, on June 20 and 21, but has been postponed for a year.

The boat show, which had the backing of leading º£½ÇÊÓƵ manufacturers Princess Yachts and Sunseeker, will now be held on June 20 and 21, 2021.

The organisers said they looking forward to hosting the newly scheduled showpiece and creating an “extraordinary” show which will celebrate all that the marine industry has to offer, and also spotlight the connections which the marine industry fosters, whether that is in leisure boats, equipment suppliers, marinas and "festival spirit".

"As we all know, boating events this spring are being cancelled or postponed," said Chris Price, manager of QAB.

"And while this is absolutely the right approach, to follow Government rules and help to protect the NHS, we're also very aware of how disappointed our exhibitors will be, and all the people who were looking forward to coming, especially in this Mayflower 400 year.

“But we're looking to the future and planning to create an even bigger and better show next year. In the meantime, we wish everyone well over the next few weeks and we look forward to welcoming you back to our marinas."

The debut regional boat show was announced in January 2020, set up in response to what was seen as a growing demand for “more intimate and locally focused shows, where people don’t need to travel so far to experience and compare different boating brands”.
