A first trade mission to Port of Esbjerg, taking in the recently launched direct flight from Humberside, will leave the region later this month.

Business leaders in renewables, maritime and logistics are to meet with Danish counterparts to further collaboration and supply chain links.

Esbjerg is Denmark’s biggest port, and the leading cluster for offshore wind in the continental North Sea. It is also an international hub for multimodal transport. It has six regular roll-on roll-off liner services, handling around 4.5 million tonnes of cargo.

The port also ships out 1GW to 1.5GW of offshore wind capacity, while importing around, 50,000 cars - underlining many synergies with the Humber.

The three-day visit is being coordinated by Eastern Airways, Port of Esbjerg and Good Travel Management, part of the John Good Group, and supported by Humber Marine Renewables and Hull City Council, departing on April 19. As reported, the route from Kirmington launched in December, having been secured the month prior.

Pauline Wade, international business specialist for Hessle-based Good Travel Management, said: “We are pleased to launch an excellent opportunity for businesses operating in the renewables and ports and logistics sectors to join us on a trade mission to the Port of Esbjerg.

“The mission will focus on hub activities connected to renewables including offshore wind, ports and logistics and hydrogen production. A programme of site visits and direct dialogue on business operations will be organised for participants.”
