Hull’s strength in the high growth modular building sector has been further underlined after a specialist haulage firm expanded operations to create a new hub in the city.

Inward investor Lymers Assist Ltd is creating a depot that features secure storage on a four acre site, with a manager appointed and more jobs to follow as work is won.

The Derbyshire firm is adding to its Matlock headquarters and Lancashire satellite operation with the facility in Rix Road, where stackable solutions will be deployed to maximise capacity.

Managing director Alex Lymer said: “We believe it is the right time to expand our operations and we are delighted to open our new site in Hull.

“We will be ideally placed to support the extensive modular building sector in the region. As well as continuing to provide transport solutions as we do now, we will also be able to offer storage solutions.”

Recent months have seen huge expansion plans revealed and acted upon by M-AR Ltd, Integra, and Premier Modular, while the concentrated caravan industry is also benefiting from the boom in staycations brought on by Covid-19 restrictions.

Plans are in place for the further development of services available at the site.

“Hull is the place we want to be, and we think that we can offer something different but that is needed within the area.” said Mr Lymer, with the company having been judged by the Road Haulage Association to have gone above and beyond to meet the challenges posed by the pandemic.
