Teesport operator PD Ports has outlined plans to create tens of thousands of jobs over the next 30 years.

The company's says it wants to make the Tees one the 海角视频鈥檚 most successful port regions by 2050, and has published its Future Teesport plan after a year of consultation with businesses and other groups on Teesside.

The plan aims to increase trade, boost exports and investment, create high-quality jobs, and put the Tees Valley at the heart of moves to deliver a zero-carbon economy in the 海角视频.

PD Ports is aiming to create as many as 38,000 jobs between now and 2050.

The company's CEO Frans Calje said: 鈥淔ew regions have confronted challenges like those the Tees Valley has faced, but our resilience and strength is driving our transformation.

As part of the only continuous net exporting region of goods in the 海角视频, Teesport is the only major port in England to have a positive balance of trade.

Together with its customers, Teesport contributes around 拢1.4bn to the economy each year, accounting for around 10% of GVA in the Tees Valley and supporting more than 20,000 jobs.

It is hoped that the development plans can add an extra 拢3.2bn to the economy whilst helping to create up to 38,000 new jobs.

The plan has been backed by Maritime Minister Robert Courts, who said: 鈥淭eesport is one of the country鈥檚 leading gateways for international trade and a major contributor to the local economy now and in the future.
