Nine former truck stop workers made redundant when the site closed to make way for a Brexit border post have secured jobs at the new Holyhead facility.

º£½ÇÊÓƵ Government bought the Parc Cybi site off Roadking last year - with around 20 jobs lost.

HMRC are building an Inland Border Facility (IBF) on the land where around 200 people will be employed once fully operational.

It will perform new customs checks on traffic coming through Holyhead.

Ynys Môn MP Virginia Crosbie said she had pressed for the site to be based in Holyhead and for consideration to be given to employing staff made redundant at Roadking.

One of the site’s new security guards Corrine Cargill said: “I worked at Roadking for over two years as a cleaner and I loved it because the team was fantastic. When we heard we were being made redundant I was gutted.

"When HMRC came to speak to us and said they would find jobs for those who wanted them I thought it was just an empty promise.

"But they kept their word and all their contractors were told to prioritise redundant Roadking staff for jobs.
