Marks and Spencer says it needs 300 temporary staff to help with the build-up to Christmas at its vast north Leicestershire distribution centre.

The high street retailer needs the workers on part-time and full-time contracts until the end of December.

The new roles are needed to support the East Midlands distribution centre in Castle Donington, through its peak season.

The work is a across the M&S distribution line, helping to pick and pack Christmas orders for delivery – with the possibility of successful candidates joining the business on a permanent basis or on recurring contracts based on recruitment needs.

Robert Davies, head of M&S Castle Donington, said: "We are really pleased to be partnering with Staffline to offer these new and exciting opportunities for local workers in the East Midlands to join our team at Castle Donington.

"The roles will have an important part to play in making sure that even in our very busiest time of the year, we deliver exceptional service for our customers and their families in the run up to Christmas.

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming visitors to the distribution centre on our open day on Sunday. I’d encourage anyone who’d like to know more about the roles or what it’s like to work here to drop in so they can see our site for themselves and meet some of our team members.”

The chain is offering £10.05 per hour between now and December 31, for those applying directly via the M&S recruitment partner Staffline.
