Logistics firm Wincanton has announced changes to its board of directors.

The Wiltshire-based supply chain manager announced on Tuesday (October 31) that its new senior independent director had commenced her role after the retirement of Stewart Oades.

With effect from Thursday (November 1) Gill Barr, a non-executive director of the Chippenham firm since 2017, has taken on the role of senior independent director. Ms Barr previously had "considerable" interaction with shareholders as chair of the remuneration committee.

Debbie Lentz has now taken on the position of chair of the remuneration committee, having served on the committee since 2019. Ms Barr will remain a member of the committee.

In addition, John Pattullo OBE has joined the board as a non-executive director of the company. Mr Pattullo has also been appointed as a member of the company's audit and nomination committees.

In its latest trading update, released in July, Wincanton recorded revenue in the first quarter was down 4.5% year-on-year, when closed book transport contracts are excluded, and year-on-year revenue was down 10.4% when included.

Bosses at the London-listed firm, which serves clients across sectors such as retail, dairy and fuel, cited "ongoing economic headwinds and resultant lower delivery volumes".
