The next Humber-focused offshore wind farm in the world-leading developer鈥檚 pipeline has had its consenting deadline put back for a second time as concerns over birds and habitats are worked out.

Orsted鈥檚 huge Hornsea Three is on new Business Secretary Alok Sharma鈥檚 desk, having been left on the pending tray following his successor's departure.

Originally due to be decided upon in October, then BEIS chief Andrea Leadsom put it back six months to allow for representations to be made, following objections to the multi-billion pound project.

Now responses from Orsted to interested parties have seen a further invite for representations, stretching beyond the end of this month.

Mr Sharma considers the submission to be 鈥渘ew environmental information鈥 and has asked for responses by April 9. As such a new deadline of June 1 has been set for the 2.4GW project.

A spokesperson for Orsted said: 鈥淗ornsea Three is a significant renewable energy project that could generate enough clean electricity for well over two million homes. As a responsible developer, we welcome the opportunity the consultation has presented for additional productive engagement with key stakeholders, and look forward to continuing to play our part in the decarbonisation of the 海角视频鈥檚 electricity system.鈥

Located 120km offshore, it sits beyond the now built Hornsea One and soon-to-start Hornsea Two, and while operated and maintained from Grimsby - where a 拢14 million East Coast Hub base has been developed - the electricity will land in Norfolk, with onshore cabling taking it to a substation close to Norwich.

The focus is on ornithology impact, with sandbanks off the North Norfolk coast, and part of a special area of conversation also highlighted.

A first delay came the day the huge operational site on the town鈥檚 Royal Dock was launched by then Grimsby MP Melanie Onn - now deputy chief executive of Renewable 海角视频 having bounced back following a December general election defeat.

At 2.4GW, Hornsea Three would be virtually double the size of the record-breaking Hornsea One. Nearly 700 sq km is being investigated. A smaller Hornsea Four, at 1.8GW and closer to the coast than Hornsea One, is also proposed.
