GBA plugs into future needs of automotive industry with technical centre launch at expanded terminal

Electric vehicle centre of excellence proposal as GBA's Grimsby footprint enlarged beside major Europe-facing terminal

Automotive logistics provider GBA Group has unveiled a major expansion of its Grimsby operations.

GBA Automotive Technical Centre has been launched on a gateway site just across from the sprawling Alexandra Dock base, recognised as one of the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ’s primary import and export terminals.

It features pre-delivery inspection and bodyshop facilities as well as the makings of an Electric Vehicle Centre of Excellence, as a training academy and regional hub is developed to support the emerging switch to green motoring.

Two land acquisitions over the past year have seen a 4.2-acre parcel united, taking in the former Jewsons site and neighbouring land off Armstrong Street, with 30 new roles emerging.

GBA Group managing director, Cale Judah, said: “The opening of GBA ATC further enhances our commitment to Grimsby and our desire to provide a best in class solution. “Working with our long-established client base we continue to back the advancement of EV technologies and the capabilities required to enable it. Our investment into both EV infrastructure and developing the next generation of skilled mechanics will provide new exciting opportunities for both GBA and the region.

Alongside advanced skills with diagnostics will come data analytics and information handling.
