East Midlands Airport is creating 80 permanent security and car parking jobs.

The airport, which is on the Leicestershire/Derbyshire border, has launched a recruitment campaign to fill the permanent positions, which start in the New Year.

The first round of interviews will take place on Thursday, December 12, and successful candidates will start training in January.

A spokesman said: “Each year, the airport increases its head count for the busy summer season – which runs from April 1 to October 31 – but the vacancies that are being recruited for now are permanent, and successful candidates will be employed all year round.

“The airport employs more than 650 people in a wide-range of jobs, from back office administrative functions to frontline operational roles.

“Almost 5 million passengers fly through East Midlands each year and, with it being home to the º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s largest dedicated air cargo operation, the airport is open 24 hours-a-day, 365 days-a-year.

“Security and car park colleagues work on shifts around the clock every day of the year and play a vital role in ensuring people and goods get to and from their destinations smoothly.”
