Drax has signed a five year 'hook and haul' contract extension with rail freight operator DB Cargo 海角视频 for biomass supply from Humber ports.

The leading operator runs around 60 trains a week from Immingham and Hull to the Selby power station.

Each train carries 1,650 tonnes of feed stock, which in turn goes on to power millions of 海角视频 homes and businesses.聽

It comes after investment in rail at the start of the supply chain, in the USA, was recently celebrated.

The first year of operation of the $15 million (拢12m) five mile link saw more than 250 road journeys wiped out per rail load between the LaSalle pellet plant in northern Louisiana and the dedicated export facility at Port of Greater Baton Rouge.

The largest ever shipment and the 100th sailing between the US port and the Humber were both received during lockdown.

On the Humber Drax is also leading the region-wide carbon capture and storage proposal that would see a pipeline connecting the largest industrial bases in the cluster.
