Bristol Port has said it is not affected by the travel ban that is causing chaos at a number of ports in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ.

More than £33billion was wiped off the FTSE 100 first thing this morning amid freight and travel bans and ongoing fears of a no-deal Brexit.

France shut its border with the º£½ÇÊÓƵ for 48 hours on Sunday and the º£½ÇÊÓƵ Government has called a meeting of its emergency committee as it grapples with yet another crisis.

Bosses at Plymouth-headquartered Brittany Ferries are holding emergency talks as hundreds of lorries have been prevented from boarding vessels between the º£½ÇÊÓƵ and France due to the new strain of coronavirus.

Meanwhile in the Humber, ships have had to be held at anchor - with return sailings missed - as it faces a capacity challenge.

However, Bristol Port said it has not made any cancellations and none of its ships are on hold.

According to the Avonmouth-based port, on Monday it received shipments containing orange juice, containers, cars, wood pellets and sand.

A spokesperson for the port said 65 per cent of the cargo it deals with is non-EU - and it was “business as usual”.
