A surge in online shopping has delivered a huge new parcel depot in Sheffield - the first of two planned by Courier Logistics this year.

Courier Logistics, part of the APC network of independent parcel delivery companies, has announced the opening of the 29,000 sq ft warehouse space on the back of 24% year-on-year growth.

The company, headquartered in Rotherham, said its growth has been spurred by a continued surge in online shopping across the region during the pandemic.

Courier Logistics said its top five customers have seen an average of 100% year-on-year growth, with those in the food and drink sector seeing the most significant growth locally.

The new depot allows the business to build on its overnight and same day parcel collection and delivery services to local businesses across all S postcodes, supporting growth of the businesses.

Daniel Franey, director at Courier Logistics, said: “It’s so encouraging to see how businesses across Sheffield have proven their resilience and entrepreneurialism despite the challenges in the last year, with many of our customers thriving.

“SMEs across the region have had to adapt their business models, products, and accelerate their online presence in order to survive in recent months, and continue to do so.

“We are dedicated to supporting their agility and determination, providing them with improved service options and a local team on hand, working hard in partnership with them, to help them flourish in the years ahead.”
