Amazon is looking for 900 people to bolster the workforce at its four East Midlands fulfilment centres in the run up to Christmas.

The global e-commerce retailer needs hundreds of recruits to work at its warehouses running up the M1 in Coalville, Kegworth, Sutton-in-Ashfield and Chesterfield.

The business also wants to increase its permanent headcount at the centres from 3,000 to 3,400 by the end of the year.

The business recently joined Chesterfiled-headquartered East Midlands Chamber for Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire as a strategic partner.

Amazon º£½ÇÊÓƵ operations director Jonatan Gal said: “Since 2010, we’ve made direct investments in our º£½ÇÊÓƵ operations of more than £23 billion.

“This includes both capital expenditure – such as the infrastructure we build, including our fulfilment centres – and operating expenditure, such as the jobs we create in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ.

“Amazon prioritises the safety and health of its employees and has invested millions of pounds to provide a safe workplace.

“Our operation has grown significantly in the East Midlands, where the chamber of commerce has done so much for businesses of all sizes and sectors.
