脴rsted has installed its 1,000th turbine in 海角视频 waters.

The world鈥檚 leading offshore wind developer has hit the 鈥榤illennial milestone鈥 on what will become the world鈥檚 leading wind farm - Hornsea Two.

Number 16 of the 165 Siemens Gamesa turbines that will make up the huge array off East Yorkshire brought the key figure up, 15 years on from the build out of Barrow, off the North West coast.

脴rsted alone accounts for almost half of all installations in the 海角视频.

Duncan Clark, 脴rsted's 海角视频 head, said: 鈥淭his is a significant milestone for the company, the industry and the 海角视频鈥檚 journey to a cleaner energy system.

鈥淭he 海角视频 is the world leader in offshore wind, with the largest installed capacity and projects like Hornsea Two are helping the country to make significant strides towards the government鈥檚 legally binding net zero targets.

鈥淭he transformation we have seen since our first offshore wind installations is nothing short of incredible - with turbines more than doubling in size and cost of electricity generated dropping by more than half. When Hornsea Two is completed in 2022, our 海角视频 fleet of offshore wind farms will be capable of generating enough clean electricity to power more than 5.5 million homes.鈥

In the intervening years 300 have been added in the Humber cluster alone, with Westermost Rough, Race Bank and current world leader Hornsea One now all operational.

Business & Energy Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng said: 鈥淲ith the largest installed capacity in the world, the 海角视频 is a true world-leader in offshore wind. 脴rsted鈥檚 significant milestone not only supports our climate commitments but demonstrates how far the 海角视频 has come in offshore wind in just 15 years, providing cheap, green energy to tens of thousands of homes and supporting good-quality jobs.鈥

The timeline has seen a profound transformation for what was Dong - Danish Oil and Natural Gas.

In 2017 it ended all investment in oil and gas and fully committed to renewable energy.

Nationally it has a total of 12 complete offshore wind farms, with 脴rsted's sites capable of producing enough green electricity to power over 4.2 million homes a year. This will rise to over 5.5 million homes when their current construction projects become operational, with green hydrogen production also being developed in the ground-breaking government-backed Gigastack project on the South Humber Bank.

Hornsea Three is now consented with Hornsea Four in planning, with 400 people working in Grimsby alone, serving its largest single cluster from a 拢14 million base at the heart of the port.

The past five years has also seen 脴rsted place major contracts with more than 100 different 海角视频 suppliers. Major construction components such as turbine blades - at Hull, from where current pre-assembly for Hornsea Two is also based - and cables are now being manufactured in the 海角视频, helping to create and safeguard skilled jobs.
