Three of Derbyshire's start-ups which are shortlisted for local business award

It hasn’t been an easy year for any business to navigate with the lockdowns and changing restrictions. Remarkably, the businesses in Derbyshire showed their conviction and commitment to the county, some even going further than surviving and instead thriving.

Making sure this hard work from our local business community is commended, the , in association with , is putting on an extra special event.

With many awards and titles to be handed out to worthy winners, the exciting evening will be filled with positivity and triumphs, something we are all in need of.

The Start-Up Business of the Year category, sponsored by , celebrates the companies across the region that have been in operation for a maximum of three years. The finalists below are some of the region’s brightest new businesses who are already making waves in their industry. Not about to stop soon, the achievements of these businesses contribute positively to the local economy and community due to their hard work and ambition.

Project D

A forward-thinking handmade doughnut bakery, Project D has re-imagined how the popular sweet snack is perceived and presented.

A mission to create the ‘world’s best doughnut’ took Project D on a research trip around the world. This culminated in two artisan bakeries, a raft of pop-up store experiences and partnerships with Amazon and Coca Cola.
