World Ocean Day is an internationally celebrated day that takes place annually. As part of the day鈥檚 celebrations, Plymouth Science Park is highlighting the cutting-edge work of two of its tenants: Ocean Ecology Limited and Frontier Technical.

Ocean Ecology, which recently moved to the Park, is recognised as one of the 海角视频鈥檚 leading marine ecological consultancies. The company provides a range of marine survey, laboratory and advisory services for projects in both the coastal and offshore zones. This vital work feeds into environmental impact assessment, monitoring programmes, and applied research.

Commenting on their move to Plymouth Science Park, Ross Griffin, Technical Director of Ocean Ecology, said: 鈥淧lymouth is well-known as a global centre of excellence for marine science and technology so having a presence at the Park will mean we鈥檒l be ideally placed to collaborate with other leading marine scientific organisations on projects in the South West and beyond.鈥

Also based at the Park is Frontier Technical Ltd, a technology development business that conducts research and development into economically viable floating offshore wind solutions.

In early 2020 the company secured funding from the Marine Business Technology Centre (MBTC) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to progress research and development of an innovative new Controllable Float Module System. This technology makes the construction of offshore projects (such as floating offshore wind installations) easier, safer, and more cost-effective.

Trevor Hardcastle, Managing Director at Frontier Technical, said: 鈥淭he South West boasts excellent skill sets from the University of Plymouth and Exeter as well as highly skilled naval architects, artificial intelligence (AI) developers, computer scientists, subsea control and navigation system experts. The region is an exciting place to be innovating in the technology and marine sector.

Fay Davies, business development manager at Plymouth Science Park, said: 鈥淭he blue and green economies are increasingly going to be key to the success of the tech sector in the South West and we are delighted to support tenants such as Ocean Ecology and Frontier Technical as they grow their business and form collaborations in the region.鈥
