The New Business of the Year award went to Digital Waffle in 2019

A year filled with challenges forced the business industry to prioritise courage and conviction.

Adapting to the new normal and changing direction to keep everyone safe, our local businesses have put in an astonishing amount of effort to keep Birmingham's economy not only surviving, but thriving.

The resilience throughout our city this past year has been inspiring and definitely deserves recognition. The is a night dedicated to doing just that.

The ceremony will be hosted on our new virtual events platform The Awards Room which gives nominees and sponsors the chance to experience real-time networking, with guests grouped together on their own tables. Follow the hashtag #BPBAwards for updates on social media.

The New Business of the Year category, sponsored by , celebrates the achievements of businesses up to three years old. It is a massive feat to take an idea and grow it into a viable business so this award commends those that have demonstrated impressive success in the short time from establishment, with the ambition to do even better.

Here are the finalists in the New Business of the Year category:

HDY Agency

In 2018, from the question 'how do you...', HDY Agency was established to deliver a collaborative approach that combines data-driven, channel-first content marketing with a curiosity lead philosophy. It has built up an impressive roster of national and global clients which span beauty, finance, technology, education, travel and tourism and retail.

With one out of every three clients based outside of the Midlands, HDY has so far drawn in excess of £500,000 back into the region. It aims to shine the spotlight on the breadth of emerging talent within the West Midlands. Not only does the company raise money for local charities, it has also embarked on the journey to becoming carbon neutral and will also be rolling out work experience, personal development and diversity and inclusion programmes in the coming months.
