Helping local causes

Samworth Brothers regularly provides support to local communities, through volunteering and community work. The company sees its role as a responsible business to create opportunities and help communities thrive.

Earlier this year, the company partnered with Loughborough College to deliver more than £10,000 worth of food donations to Kyiv, for the sole purpose of feeding war-torn families in Ukraine. The college ran a three-day food drive, with kind-hearted donors filling 10 pallets with food and other items, while Samworth Brothers ensured the supplies reached Ukraine via its HGV fleet.

In June 2022, Samworth Brothers Charity Challenge teams raised an incredible £215,000 for charity across two weekend events. A total of 67 teams from the businesses, its customers and suppliers signed up for one of the two triathlon-style events in Wales, through rain and shine, to reach the impressive milestone.

Samworth Brothers also regularly contributes to pop-up pantries during the half-term for local school children. The initiative contributes to Leicester City Council's holiday food programme to make sure children on benefits-related free school dinners don't miss regular meals during their holidays.

Eligible families are provided with bread, fruit, vegetables, milk and store cupboard essentials to ensure children have some breakfast, lunch and dinner options over half-term. Families have previously been able to collect their food from one of five pop-up community pantries that were set up at sites across the city – including local schools, a leisure centre and the King Power stadium.
