The pandemic has shone a spotlight on the importance of community, something we often took for granted pre-2020.
Whether it is a local business providing essential goods or an organisation helping the most vulnerable, it is inspiring to see so many with a passion for supporting others with their services and selflessness.
To show how grateful we are for the hard work put into our local economy and community, our region's business elite will be celebrated at the later this month.

Edgbaston Stadium
Edgbaston Stadium is one of the leading venues in world cricket and has been the home of Warwickshire County Cricket Club since 1885. Following a £32 million stadium redevelopment in 2011, it now boasts world-class facilities that provide an unrivalled match day experience, alongside becoming one of the leading conference and events venues in the West Midlands.

Edgbaston was forced to close its doors at the beginning of the pandemic but since then staff have adapted operations to ensure the stadium could play an enhanced role in the community response to the pandemic. Immediately, the team made the stadium a covid-secure environment to support multiple community projects.
The on-site car park was utilised as a national drive-through covid-19 testing centre and the exhibition hall was transformed into a food sorting and distribution centre. Partnering with Thrive Together Birmingham, 35 staff from the stadium volunteered more than 720 hours to store and repackage 16.4 tonnes of food. As a result, £51,500 worth of goods were delivered to 20 local organisations in need.
The foundation and charity then turned to the Toys4Birmingham campaign, receiving an excess of 16,500 toys to help those struggling to buy presents for their children. More recently, the Exhibition Hall has been transformed into an NHS Covid-19 Vaccination Centre.
Staff took part in the 2.6 Challenge and raised more than £6,500 for Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity and the NSPCC’s Childline service in Birmingham. In addition, the foundation raised funds through selling NHS-inspired t-shirts and contributing to an online charity cricket auction.
In order to boost the spirits of club members, past and present members of both Warwickshire teams made more than 260 phone calls to check in and converse with supporters and sent more than 50 birthday video messages to young fans. Coach Jack Murfin and nutrition consultant Olivia Barnes released home workouts and recipes for ten weeks.
Park Regis Birmingham
Park Regis Birmingham hotel reopened within three days to welcome emergency NHS and key workers to stay during the covid-19 crisis. The hotel became the first in Birmingham and one of the first independent properties in the 海角视频 to create a Covid-19 secure, enhanced cleaning regime which allowed visitors to not only enjoy first-class hospitality but remain safe. The Mayor of Birmingham, Andy Street, was impressed by the high standard of measures in place.

The hotel was one of the first venues to sign up to the Quality in Tourism ‘Safe, Clean and Legal’ accreditation. The accolade led to it gaining a place in the top ten per cent of hotels on TripAdvisor in which it won the prestigious ‘Travellers Choice’ Award 2020.
Park Regis is committed to its values and providing a supporting role within the community, with corporate social responsibility at the heart of all the hotel does. Last October when free school meals were discontinued for the half-term break, it stepped up and ensured more than 60 vulnerable children received adequate provisions.
To date, the hotel has served over 10,000 meals with a commitment to feed more youngsters in the future. Management and staff played their part by being quick to adapt and willing to help others less fortunate. They provided gifts from Santa to children in need, volunteered at covid-19 test centres and assisted at local food banks.
Tyndallwoods Solicitors
Tyndallwoods Solicitors has offered legal services to businesses and individuals since its traceable origins in 1792. Every year at its summer garden party, the business showcases a charity working in its community and how the firm offers it support.
The firm has worked with locally based Edward's Trust for more than 30 years, with director Judy Dyke being a patron since 1999. It is committed to supporting the charity's ongoing fundraising needs, particularly with assisting applications for grants. During 2020, Judy organised a reverse raffle to thank the staff and volunteers who have maintained bereavement support online in these particularly challenging months.
Another charity that the business supports is Birmingham St Mary's Hospice. It has helped the charity for more than 40 years and Judy has been a patron since 2013. Regardless of the pandemic, Tyndallwoods continued to support the Make A Will campaign, providing free wills for hospice supporters, and is helping towards the 'Raise the Roof Emergency Repair Appeal 2021'.
The firm has engaged in significant capital projects, including a family room and garden at Edward's Trust and the Birmingham St Mary's Hospice day centre and educational facility. In the first week of December each year, the firm hosts a celebration of the life of loved ones by dedicating a light on its Tree of Light to them. It raises donations for both charities, even raising more than £2,100 when guests weren't allowed last year.

The Birmingham Post Business Awards celebrate the best firms and organisations across the city and surrounding region, giving them a platform to be applauded for their hard work.
Barclays sponsored the CSR Project of the Year category in 2019 and will be sponsoring it again this year as the company has a firm commitment towards managing the social impacts of its businesses and the communities in which they are based.
The award is for recognising the businesses that have gone above and beyond to adhere to their corporate social responsibilities and develop schemes aimed at bringing about great local benefit.
